Not all tile is created equal – the type of tile you would use for the interior of your home is not necessarily what you will use outside. There are different factors affecting flooring outside versus in the home, weather being the largest. It doesn’t get as cold in Frisco as it does in other parts of the country, so there are a considerable number of options for outdoor floors here.

While unglazed ceramic tiles are a viable option for outdoor tiling, there are many other types that can be a better fit. Porcelain tiles are highly water resistant, durable, and add a stylish touch to any outdoor space. Stone tiles, such as slate or quarry, are slip-resistant which makes them a great option for those with swimming pools. In general, it is best to look for material with a Porcelain Enamel Institute (PEI) rating of 4 or 5 – this means the tile is wear resistant and suitable for outdoor settings.
